Oh my, Carmen and Ingo, Carmen and Ingo… I really don’t know where to start, but just to start somewhere, lets begin with one of the most important arguments, you made during your presentation at Way Up North in Cologne; “Give before you ask!”, you said, and that’s something you really practise yourselves – rarely has anyone shared so much valuable content in such a short amount of time.

As the headline suggests, Carmen and Ingo’s presentation is about how to achieve personal success in both business and life. This is done through a three-step process.

What do you want to achieve and why? Everybody strives for different things. Write down the things you want to experience, to own, to do and to achieve.

Be honest with yourself. What does success look like in your life? How do you want your life to evolve, short term and long term?

Find tools, shortcuts, plan! Once you know what you want, and why, is it time to get to work. Make a plan. Find the right tools and the best way to get where you want to go.

Carmen and Ingo’s presentation focuses on the third step of the process: How can you achieve your goals? What they teach is useful, not only to photographers, but to most entrepreneurs. They have a lot to share, but don’t worry – I made a top 10 list only for you!

according to me

  1. Reach! Where do you meet your clients in the best way? What channels do they use? Social media? Webb forums? IRL?
  2. Show your work! When you know which channels work the best for you, make sure to show your work continuously in those channels.
  3. Give before you ask! Always start by giving. Help others before asking for help yourself.
  4. Educate! Share that what you know with others.
  5. Create valuable content! Create tutorials and content with value for your clients for free, even before they are your clients. Take good care of those who appreciate what you do.
  6. Networking! Attend networking events, to meet people who wants to collaborate with you.
  7. Build your own team. If there is no network where you live – create one yourself! Team up with like-minded, positive people.
  8. Get a mentor! Find the person who knows what you want to learn and hire that person.
  9. Grow! Say yes to new things and education. Never stop learning.
  10. Hustle! Because when it really comes down to it, the only thing that will get you where you want to go is action. Do the f*ck*ng work!

Thank you for the push Carmen and Ingo. I needed that. I want you to know that I’ve probably done more, in the short time since Way Up North, than in the whole year before the event. You guys rock!

With love,

Jonas Burman
