I walk along the trail through a forest that whispers pleasantly, searching for the next sign that leads us towards our destination. It’s all like a treasure hunt, trying to find the location for the ceremony somewhere in the woods and at the same time the wedding couple (who’s really found each other – and twice for that matter).
You see, when Julia met Linda, Julia was still called Michael. I never knew Michael, but Linda speaks about him with love in her voice, so I bet he was an amazing guy. I met Julia for the first time, on a photo tour to Iceland, earlier this year.
Julia, Linda and I shared everything from a rental car, an apartment, lots of liquorice, to a few pizzas, more laughter than you can imagine, and so many memories during that week on Iceland. We became very close friends in a very short time. Traveling with Linda and Julia was like bringing the best of both worlds together: Linda’s honest, bubbly and positive, and Julia’s calm, warm and the kindest person I’ve ever met. Spending time with them made me feel truly alive.
And today, almost half a year later, I am invited to their wedding. It blows my mind. So amazing.
I look up from the leaf covered ground, and there between the trees I can finally see the wedding venue. Today, love wins!
